about

For reasons I cannot explain I always end up behind the piano when I return home from a night out involving (heavy) drinking. This is one of the few songs I wrote while I was drunk. This is actually the one song I wrote drunk and kept. The contrast between partying with friends and entering an empty house can be quite brutal. I guess that fact struck me so hard. But what do I know, I was hammered. I remember hearing Erik Den Tuinder's guitar solo for the first time and got tears in my eyes. The coda with the guitar, the strings and the siren singing by Kim de Beer in the distance is one of my favourite parts of the album. I found it so hauntingly beautiful what these musicians did to my song that I am very grateful to work with them
